Ps4 download speed dosent match internet speed

Peak hours sucked, my advice, upgrade the internet, but that doesn't sound like an option where you live. JoHnEyAp posted Assuming my isp isn't having problems. I have begged my isp to upgrade my speed, and while they are in the process of expanding their fiber optic network, I live in the middle of no where in a town that MIGHT have people, I am on the very edge of their service area, it could be three years or more before they run it near my house.

As for peak hours, I don't believe such a thing exists in my area, many people in this small town do not own a computer. User Info: MetalZoic. It was the same way with the PS3. On the X1 test or a speedtest. On the PS4 it shows a measly down and only up. User Info: jbecerril. Fanboys defending the PS4 will defend it regardless. The fact is very simple, Sony servers are decent, Microsoft servers are great. Gaming online i don't think is such a problem, downloading big files thats when Xbox shines.

Sorry Sony, but hopefully Gaikai solves those issues. MetalZoic posted Sadly the connection test pings the PSN servers and not a typical hub like with speakeasy. User Info: wvnative03 wvnative03 7 years ago 1 Okay, I live in the middle of no where, so it ain't like my internet is fast, I only have a 3mb download connection, but IMO, with such low speeds, every little bit I can get helps. My PS4 speed tests only between 1.

I am on these boards all day every day and haven't seen any other complaints like this. Any advice is appreciated. User Info: kos12 kos12 7 years ago 2 the psn is down? Hagakure Community. Many "fixes" have been discussed over the years -- manually changing your DNS server to Google's, for instance -- but most are snake oil. This fix, though, might actually work for you, as some internet sleuthing and personal testing have revealed a high success rate.

You're going to set up a local proxy on your computer and run your PS4's internet connection through that for downloads. As someone who's had PSN download speed problems for years -- especially on the day of a release or major update -- I found myself frequently Googling for and testing out potential fixes that never worked.

Changing DNS servers, ritualistically switching between WiFi and Ethernet, superstitiously pausing and unpausing downloads at different completion percentages, and even trying to let all downloads progress while the PS4 is in Rest Mode. Nothing ever worked. I finally landed on this potential fix from Redditor TheTigerbite, which described a very simple four-step process that only took a couple of minutes and basically completely uncapped my PSN download speeds.

I'm just here to let you know that, if you fall into the camp I've been stuck in for years -- every fix you come across not working -- this one actually works. That's it.

After literal years of intermittent Googling and tinkering with my router and internet settings, this solution actually worked. Downloading Mass Effect: Andromeda's 1.

It's worth noting that, for as long as your PSN internet connection is set up like this, it can only connect to the internet via your proxy. So, since I've never had a problem with actual ping or lag when playing online only having the speed problems when downloading , I simply turn off the proxy after a large download has completed and reconfigure my PS4's internet connection back to my router.

I don't download large files too often on the PSN, but if you do, it's up to you to decide if you want to switch between your proxy or not. If you're wondering why this works, Redditor tibiazak explains it well. Basically, the PS4 doesn't grab a lot of data at once, but running it through the proxy makes it grab little amounts of data a lot faster. This is a BETA experience.
